New Year, New Stories

Happy 2017! OK, my new year's wishes are a little belated, but sincere. My hope for everyone is that the upcoming year (and beyond) send you health and happiness.

As my newsletter subscribers already know, I needed to take a little break from writing about the dark side of humanity for a bit. While I was recharging, I amused myself with writing fluffy, trope-y stories centered around bar hookups (supes deep!) with plenty of banter, sexytimes, and insta-lust. This trio of short stories is cleverly called Man Walks Into A Bar. They made me smile writing them, and I hope they bring a smile to you.

Man Walks Into A Bar releases January 19, 2016 (it's on preorder now). If you are a newsletter subscriber and didn't see my latest one sent Christmas eve, check your inbox or spam filter. You will see a secret link which will allow you to download Bo's Story (in mobi) as a freebie.

For those patiently awaiting SWITCH, not to worry, it's next. ;-)

Then I turn my attention to Double Duty, the next book in the Doubleback series. I can't promise that I won't digress into floof-dom in between or after, because as readers know, Jude and Rowan are in for some heavy times, and heavy times for my characters require that I, their creator, need to recharge from putting them through the wringer. But for now, that's the writing plan for 2017.

I wish you and the people you love a peaceful, wonderful 2017.

Love, Lissa

Thank You, Awesome Readers

Today is Thanksgiving Day in the US. I want to take a moment to thank YOU, awesome readers. Your enthusiasm, comments and reviews mean so much to me.

In the US, it's been a difficult election season. The only way I'll be able to get through the next four years without losing my mind is to write stories of love, tolerance, and humor. To remind myself that when things seem darkest, people can surprise you with light. That kindness can overcome hate.

With that in mind, I'm working on a little holiday surprise for you. Keep an eye out for my newsletter, which will be sent in the coming weeks, with more details.

Wishing you peace and love this Thanksgiving Day and beyond.

Lissa

Double Cross releases! Pumpkin lattes for everyone!

Today's the big day! Double Cross, book 3 in the Doubleback series, is out into the wild. I really put Jude and Rowan through the wringer in this story, which was fun (maniacal cackle). After writing BAIT and discovering new characters in that story, it was lovely to return to old friends Jude and Ro, the duo who set me on the path to writing mysteries because I thought it would be hot to write a second chance at love story with cops who carried around a lot of emotional baggage. The rest is...you know.

I loved writing Double Cross. I hope you enjoy reading it.

And, as always dear readers, thank you for your support. It means the world to me.

Getting my shit together

Maybe you’ve notice a few changes to my formerly extremely basic online presence. I’ve finally bit the bullet and got an actual big-girl website built. As with many things, it all started rather innocuously by forces beyond my control.

Those said forces were threatening my connection to my readers. Gmail changed their DMARC policies to restrict @ gmail “from” addresses when sending through third-party services like newsletter providers. In other words, if I sent out my newsletter, a subscriber who used Gmail wouldn’t get my newsletter because I also sent through a Gmail account. Crazy. It’s their own damn email service, but I guess Gmail wanted to prevent themselves from spamming their users.

I treasure you guys, and it would totally suck if I couldn’t reach you when a new release was ready. I had to do something about it. So, I needed a new email address, one that was connected to my own domain. And then I figured if I was going to spring for my own domain, I needed a proper website, something I’d been wanting anyway. One thing led to another, and voila! Here we are. New everything—email, website, logo, social media headers, the whole shebang.

I am soooo in love with my new website, and Sarah Pinneo from Authorclicks rocked it out. It is on the Squarespace platform—new to me—so if occasionally I eff it up tinkering with it, I apologize in advance. It does have some super cool features like hidden pages, which in the future will have goodies that only my newsletter subscribers can access. It has a blog page where I can easily post my own “musings” and distribute it through my admittedly sporadic social media presence, which I hope to increase. And it’s mobile-friendly.

So, welcome to the new Lissa Ford experience. I hope you’ll stick around.
